Summer Program Features
Camp Tekoa will offer eight weeks of programs from June through early August. We feature traditional favorites like talent shows and evening campfires, weekly off-site adventures to places like Pisgah National Forest, and family-style cabin groups led by caring, professionally trained counselors.
Outstanding Mountain Facilities
Our 145-acre campus in the Blue Ridge Mountains includes a 3-acre mountain lake, multiple zipline courses, a 40-foot climbing tower, extensive hiking trails, modern and clean cabins with screens and fans, and a dining hall serving nutritious buffet-style meals with vegetarian options. We maintain all equipment to the highest safety standards.
Making Camp Accessible
We offer multiple session lengths from Sunday-Wednesday Mini Camps to two-week adventure expeditions. Financial assistance and scholarships are available through our generous donor program. Our 2% Promise program donates 2% of all registrations directly to scholarship funds, helping dozens of children attend camp each summer. We also offer special Hurricane Helene recovery scholarships for families impacted by the storm. No child should be excluded from the Tekoa experience due to financial concerns. Is Camp Tekoa affiliated with any specific denomination?
Camp Tekoa is affiliated with the Western NC Conference of the United Methodist Church and has been transforming young lives through outdoor ministry since 1949. However, we welcome children from all Christian backgrounds and denominations. Our focus is on helping every child grow in their faith in an inclusive, supportive environment.
What safety and health measures do you have in place?
Camp Tekoa is accredited by the American Camp Association, meeting over 250 standards for safe operation. We have multiple lifeguards on staff monitoring all waterfront activities, 24-hour medical staff available during camp sessions, comprehensive emergency management protocols, and staff trained in CPR, AED, and First Aid. All families must complete health history forms, and medical insurance information is required for all campers.
What are the cabins like?
All cabins have bunk beds, screens, and fans. Many have their own bathrooms with hot and cold running water and air conditioning. Our smaller cabins house 1-2 counselors and 6-7 campers. Our larger cabins have 2-3 counselors and 8-12 campers. For cabins without attached bathrooms, there are several central bath houses with individual shower stalls, sinks, and toilets.
How do I stay in touch with my child during camp?
Parents can send emails to campers through our online system, and we post photos throughout the week that you can view online. For emergencies, we can be reached 24/7 at (828) 692-6516 x 114. We encourage limited communication during camp to help children fully embrace the camp experience, but we understand parents' needs for peace of mind.
